A magnitude 6.0 strong earthquake has hit Islamabad and Lahore alongside some neighboring areas around 2:30 pm today.
Around 2:30 pm today, a quake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale was felt in many areas of Pakistan including Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, and neighbouring areas of KP according to the National Seismic and Monitoring Center.
In the Federal Capital, residents rushed out of the building as the tremors were strong and monstrous at first and gradually went down.

Areas of Malakand, Charsadda, Upper and Lower Dir alongside Kohat and Swat felt the tremors. Gujrat and Gujranwala also felt the tremors as people were seen fleeing from commercial buildings and homes.
Authorities state that as of yet no casualties have been reported but many buildings have been damaged in the city.
The origin and epicentre of the quake are said to be the Hindukush Region, Afghanistan. The quake had a depth of 213 km.
Afghanistan also experienced the tremors as the quake was recorded a 6.3 on the Richter Scale.
Pakistan and Afghanistan may not lie on a fault line but the tectonic plates continue to move under the earth’s crust at a rate of several centimetres per year.
