According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the citizens of the provincial capital can expect sunny weather with a light breeze over the next two days.
A heatwave alert has been issued for several districts of Sindh as temperatures are expected to soar in the coming days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that daytime temperatures will be 5 to 7°C higher than usual, marking the first heatwave warning of the season.
The alert indicates hot and dry weather for the upper and central regions of Sindh, including cities such as Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Qambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Sukkur, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Matiari, and Sanghar. These areas are likely to experience unusually high temperatures, posing health risks, especially for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.
The minimum temperature in the city is expected to be around 23°C, while the maximum may reach 37°C, with humidity levels above 26% and only a 1% chance of rain. Karachi will also experience hot and dry conditions, with sea breezes expected to remain cut off throughout the day. The coastal city could see maximum temperatures of up to 38°C, and humidity levels may rise to 80-90%, which will increase discomfort and the potential for a higher heat index.
The PMD has advised residents to take precautions during this heatwave, especially those in the affected districts. The heat is expected to last for several days, making it essential to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
