Met office forecasts rain and snow in several regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain and snowfall in various parts of the country from today till February 3, warning that the risk of landslides may increase in mountainous regions during this period.

Officials said Islamabad will experience low temperatures along with intermittent cloud cover, keeping the weather chilly throughout the day. Meanwhile, colder conditions are likely to prevail in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding hilly areas. These regions may experience a sharp drop in temperature, especially during the night and early morning hours. As a result, residents and tourists have been advised to take precautionary measures while travelling.

At the same time, most districts of Sindh are expected to remain cold and dry. Weather officials indicated that no significant rainfall is forecast for the province, and dry conditions are likely to dominate in the coming days. However, temperatures may stay low during the night, particularly in upper Sindh.

In contrast, several areas of Balochistan are expected to receive rainfall. Rain is likely in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Chagai, Nokundi, and Dalbandin. These showers may bring temporary relief from dry weather but could also lower temperatures further in these regions. Additionally, rain and snowfall are expected in Gwadar, Kech, and nearby coastal and mountainous areas. This weather activity may affect travel and daily routines, especially in elevated locations.

Further north, scattered rain and snowfall are forecast at a few places in Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Swat, and Kalam. These areas may experience slippery roads and reduced visibility, particularly in higher altitudes. Similarly, parts of Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to receive rain and snowfall at isolated locations. Authorities have urged residents and travelers to remain cautious and stay updated on local weather advisories.
