The national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), has commenced direct flights from Lahore to the country’s northern areas, as the first flight carrying 153 passengers flew to Skardu.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched direct flights from Lahore to Skardu, boosting connectivity to northern tourist destinations. The first flight departed from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, with PIA officials seeing off passengers.
PIA CEO Arshad Malik stated that the airline is committed to promoting tourism. In addition to Skardu, PIA has also started flights from Lahore to Swat.
According to a PIA spokesperson, two flights per week will operate between Lahore and Skardu using Airbus A-320 aircraft. The one-way fare is set at Rs7500.
Meanwhile, Swat’s Saidu Sharif Airport welcomed its first flight on March 26 after 17 years. The airport, operational since 1978, had been closed since 2004. PIA now plans to operate two flights per week from Lahore and Islamabad to Saidu Sharif, further enhancing regional air travel.
