Pakistan to launch remote sensing satellite on 31st

Pakistan will launch a remote sensing satellite on July 31, 2025 from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC), announced the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) spokesperson on Sunday.

Pakistan has achieved another major step in its space journey with the successful launch of a new remote sensing satellite. According to the national space agency, this launch will greatly improve the country’s earth observation capabilities and support a wide range of national needs. The new satellite will help increase crop production through precision agriculture. It will also support urban planning by monitoring city growth and tracking infrastructure development across the country.

Authorities say the satellite will also play a key role in disaster management. It will help give early warnings for natural disasters like floods, landslides, earthquakes, and monitor changes such as glacier melting and deforestation. The satellite’s advanced features will allow it to map transport systems and detect geological risks. These functions will support major development plans, including projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Experts say that its ability to collect data in different weather and environmental conditions will make it highly useful for keeping track of natural resources and protecting the environment. This launch is part of a broader plan to build Pakistan’s space capabilities. The new satellite will work alongside the PRSS-1 satellite launched in 2018 and the EO-1 satellite launched earlier this year in January 2025.

The space agency says this progress is in line with the National Space Policy and Suparco Vision 2047. The goal is to make Pakistan a leading country in space science and technology in the coming decades.
