Pakistan Weather Update from January to March: Dry January and Rainy March

LAHORE – Near-normal rainfall is expected in Pakistan with temperatures expected to be above-normal from the start of 2024 January to March.

The first quarter of 2024 is expected to be dry as there’s no evidence as of yet of heavy rainfals or snowfal.

Below is a detailed escription of how our weather may look like from January 2024 to March 2024.

Synoptic Situation:

During the first three months of 2024, January, February, and Marach, the El Nino Oscilations are expected to continue their positive phase.

Moreover, the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is also estimated to have a shift words the neutral spectrum during the first month of the season.

Seasonal Rainfall Outlook of Pakistan

The rainfal situation still looks dire as many of the wheat crops in Punjab are in need of rain. However, according to reports near-normal rainfal is expected in the upper parts of KP, AJK, and Northern Balochsitan as they willl be under Western Influence.

However, the end of the season i.e March is expected to be much rainy and wetter than the start of the season. 

Seasonal Temperature Outlook of Pakistan

The condition of the teemperature in Pakistan is also not at par. Temperatures are expected to be above-normal for the seasonal-range. The temperature range for areas such as KP, North Punjab, GB, and some areas of AJK are expected to be higher than normal.

Impacts of January to March Weather in Pakistan 2024

According to the reports as of yet, the start of the season is expected to be drier while the end is expected to be wetter. Near-normal rainfall is expected for the second part of the first quarter. Moisture content is suspected to be near-normal as well for the upcoming Rabi crops. Thick fogs are suspected to engulf the areas of Pakistan due to the dry and low-humid conditions of the country. Areas of Punjab may also be susceptible to smog.
