PDMA releases new data on river flows across Punjab

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), river levels in Punjab remain mostly normal, with a medium-level flood at Panjnad.

The Indus River is flowing normally at several key locations, including Tarbela with a flow of 196000 cusecs, Kalabagh at 169000 cusecs, Chashma at 178000 cusecs, and Taunsa at 161,000 cusecs. The Chenab also has a steady flow at 56000 cusecs at Marala, 68,000 at Khanki, 75000 at Qadirabad, and finally, at Trimmu with an outflow of 80000 cusecs. The only location with elevated river levels is Panjnad, where an outflow of 234,000 cusecs has led to medium-level flooding.

The Ravi River has also remained steady with 8,000 cusecs at Jassar, 10000 at Shahdara, 29000 at Balloki, and 23000 at Sidhnai. The PDMA confirmed that the situation is stable in most rivers, but monitoring teams are on alert in the Panjnad region in case of a sudden water level rise.

In other developments, it was noted that the Indus River was experiencing high flood levels at the Sukkur and Guddu barrages, and a low flood at the Kotri Barrage. The inflow to Guddu was reported to be at 624,094 cusecs, indicating a reduction of around 14000 cusecs, while the outflow was recorded as 594,936 cusecs. The level of water in the Guddu Barrage continues to lower. Meanwhile, at the Sukkur Barrage, the level of flow is increasing, indicating an accumulative additional burden of flood impact is taking place in that area.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. While most rivers in Punjab remain at safe levels, flood concerns at Panjnad and the rising water at Sukkur highlight the need for preparedness in downstream regions. The PDMA has requested that residents stay vigilant, and they have confirmed that emergency and rescue teams are available to respond if conditions worsen.
