PIA to relaunch more international flights next month

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has announced that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to restart direct flights to the United Kingdom (UK) by the end of February 2025.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is making notable progress in expanding its international operations. The airline is  planning to re-establish flight routes to the United States and Canada in the near future.

These changes are part of PIA’s strategy to enhance its operational value and increase its appeal for potential privatization. The minister emphasized that improving connectivity and restoring international routes is vital for PIA’s recovery and future growth.

In recent developments, PIA resumed its flight operations to Paris with flight PK 749, marking the revival of this route after more than four years. The flight was welcomed at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris by Charge d’Affaires Ms. Huzefa Khanum and other officials.

PIA has formally requested the UK Department of Transport and Civil Aviation for Third Country Authorization (TCA) to resume flights to key UK cities such as London, Birmingham, and Manchester.

This drive to expand and recover follows several challenges PIA has faced in recent years.
