PM and KP CM hold talks on province’s security situation

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House on Monday for a one-on-one meeting, amid rising tensions between the federal and provincial governments over security and the displacement of people from Tirah Valley.

The meeting continued for nearly an hour and focused on law and order challenges faced by KP. During the discussion, the chief minister briefed the prime minister on the evolving security environment and highlighted provincial concerns related to terrorism and public safety. In addition, both sides reviewed the fulfilment of federal responsibilities toward the province and examined the latest developments regarding allocations under the 13th National Finance Commission Award.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, KP Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam, Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Adviser Rana Sanaullah, and Federal Minister Amir Muqam also attended the meeting. The participants stressed the need for close coordination between federal and provincial authorities to ensure stability and effective governance.

At the same time, security forces achieved major success in counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, security forces killed 13 militants linked to the Indian-backed Fitna Al Khawarij during two separate intelligence-based operations.

In the first operation, security forces conducted a targeted raid in Bannu district following reports of militant presence. As a result of intense fighting, eight militants were eliminated. Shortly afterward, another intelligence-based operation took place in the Kurram district, where security forces neutralized five more militants after a brief exchange of fire.

Security officials stated that these operations significantly disrupted militant networks operating in the region. They reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism and restoring lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
