Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants the availability of sugar and other essential commodities at affordable rates in the holy month of Ramadan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting in Lahore to review sugar supply and price control. He emphasized strict measures against hoarding and smuggling, urging authorities to ensure stable prices.
Officials reported that sugar stocks are sufficient and fair price shops have been set up at the provincial level. The prime minister stressed that federal and provincial governments must collaborate to provide essential items at reasonable rates, especially during Ramadan. He warned that negligence in price control would not be tolerated.
The meeting included Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Cheema, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and other senior officials. Provincial chief secretaries joined via video link, assuring action against illegal hoarding.
Later, PM Shehbaz met Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Leghari to discuss electricity demand and supply. He reiterated the need for lower tariffs and uninterrupted power during Sehri and Iftar.
