The Meteorological Department has forecast rain and snowfall in several cities.
Cold conditions are also expected in Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and several areas of Balochistan as winter continues to tighten its grip. In contrast, most districts of Sindh are likely to remain hot and dry. Meanwhile, the recent spell of rain and hailstorms in Islamabad, Lower Dir, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Balakot, Abbottabad, and Muzaffarabad has significantly increased the cold. Residents in these areas experienced a noticeable drop in temperature, leading to chilly mornings and colder nights.
Following the rain system, temperatures in northern areas have fallen further. According to the latest figures, Leh recorded the lowest temperature at minus 3 degrees Celsius, while Skardu reached minus 1 degree and Babusar dropped to 1 degree Celsius. These freezing conditions have strengthened the winter chill across upper regions, especially in hilly and mountainous zones.
The Met Office has advised citizens, especially those planning travel to northern areas, to prepare for cold weather and possible snowfall. Overall, Pakistan continues to experience varying weather conditions, with northern regions entering peak winter mode and southern areas staying warmer. Authorities are monitoring the situation and will issue further updates if weather patterns intensify in the coming days.
