The 28th meeting of the provincial cabinet, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, approved an agenda comprising 130 points.
The Punjab government has approved 1220 flats for industrial workers in Labour Complexes located in Sundar, Kasur, and Taxila. These flats will be given to workers through a ballot process. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, also rejected the proposal to recover the construction cost from workers. Instead, she ordered the building of over 3000 additional flats for labourers. In another major decision, the provincial cabinet approved a minimum monthly salary of Rs40,000 for skilled, semi-skilled, and other workers in 102 job categories across the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also praised Rescue 1122 for their efforts during recent floods. She announced a cash award of Rs50000 for each officer who performed duty during flood emergencies. Earlier, Maryam Nawaz inaugurated two innovative mobile learning programs — “School on Wheels” and “Library on Wheels.” These programs aim to improve access to education in both rural and urban areas of Punjab.
Solar e-rickshaws power the mobile schools and libraries and include folding chairs, solar panels, and learning materials. The “School on Wheels” provides primary education and creative activities, while the “Library on Wheels” delivers books, art materials, and toys to children in areas with no libraries. The Chief Minister said these projects are part of her government’s broader mission to improve literacy and bring education to the doorsteps of underserved communities. These initiatives reflect a growing focus on worker welfare, education, and emergency services across Punjab.
