Punjab IG states that the safety and security of educational institutions is the security force’s first priority.
The news circulating on various social media channels regarding the closure of schools due to a security threat is entirely inaccurate.
No potential threat has been received and citizens are advised to take precaution while reading such misinformation.
He stated that no credible and security threat has been monitored or is present and no notification regarding the closure of schools and colleges have been released.
Any circular or notification present on the social media is entirely baseless and false and has no authentic source or origin and citizens are advised to be careful about the spread of misinformation as it can cause mass panics.
Punjab IG states, “The social media reports regarding the closure of educational institutions are baseless. No instruction has been received or given to close schools or colleges”.
Moreover, Usman Anwar has warned the general public of strict consequences if found for the spread of misinformation on social media platforms as it is being misused.
He stated, “social media is being misused: don’t listen at all”.
The police and law enforcement agencies have been more diligent than ever and are on alert and have notified the general public including parents, and students to notify them of any suspicious activity.
