Punjab starts Banning Vehicles without Fitness Certificates and Permits on Motorways

The government of Punjab with the consultation of the Caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi signed a policy with National Highway Authority and Motorway Police to ban all vehicles without a fitness certificate or permit.

This policy has made it mandatory for the Punjab Transport Department and the Motorway Police to provide information regarding a vehicle’s fitness and its route. In addition to that, two officials will be appointed from both parties who will ensure the seamless transition and exchange of information between the parties.

According to Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, this policy is in accordance with SDGs in Punjab, Pakistan. This agreement is focused on the reduction of smog in Punjab.

He also stated in an announcement that unregistered Rickshaw’s are given a time of one month to register their vehicles free of cost. He further stated that no unregistered rickshaw or Chingchi will be allowed on the road after that.

Moreover, the CM is also set to establish a trauma center on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway. This initiative is with collaboration with the National Highway Authority (NHA).
