Qatar praises Pak-Saudi defence deal in talks with Zardari

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has expressed pride in Pakistan’s achievements and reaffirmed his resolve to further solidify bilateral ties during a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari in Doha.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Pakistan’s ambassador also attended the meeting. During the discussion, the Emir praised Pakistan’s achievements and highlighted the positive role of the Pakistani community in Qatar. He also expressed a desire to increase the number of Pakistanis working and living in the country.

The Emir noted that Pakistan holds a unique diplomatic position by maintaining balanced relations with China, the West, and Gulf nations. President Zardari conveyed greetings on behalf of the Pakistani government and people, appreciating the Emir’s leadership and Qatar’s development progress.

Both leaders agreed to further deepen the historic and brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Qatar. They discussed enhancing cooperation in several sectors, including defense, defense production, agriculture, and food security. In response, the Emir instructed relevant officials to begin immediate coordination to pursue these opportunities.

President Zardari also expressed appreciation for Qatar’s constructive efforts in hosting the Doha talks on Afghanistan. He shared hopes that Pakistan and Afghanistan would resolve their issues and work toward regional peace and stability. Meanwhile, the Emir reaffirmed Qatar’s support for peace efforts in the region. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the Emir of Qatar accepting President Zardari’s invitation to visit Pakistan. He announced plans to travel to Pakistan early next year, signaling a continued commitment to advancing cooperation and friendship between the two nations.
