ISLAMABAD: After ordering the complete closure of commercial activities in Margalla Hills, the Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the authorities concerned to take over what was left of restaurants including Monal, Gloria Jeans and LA Montana.
In a detailed verdict issued, SC ordered the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory Police to assist the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) in taking over the possession of said restaurants on September 11, 2024.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa issued the verdict in a 25-page judgment. The honorable CJP directed the authorities concerned to barricade the entrances and demolish infrastructure with minimal disturbance to the wildlife and avoid damage to the trees of the national park.
“The debris will be removed and disposed of properly and not within the precincts of Margalla Hills National Park,” CJP Isa wrote in his judgment.
Monal and other eateries within the Margalla Hills National Park were forced to shut down their operations following the June 11 verdict of the apex court, which had ordered the closure of all commercial activities within the hills.
