The Supreme Court of Pakistan has released its detailed written verdict in Noor Mukadam murder case on June 10, upholding the death sentence of convict Zahir Jaffar.
The court based its decision on strong legal points and solid evidence. In the verdict, the court stated that video footage can be used as primary evidence even without eyewitnesses. It added that in many cases, including bank robberies, video recordings have been accepted as valid proof. The court mentioned that such silent witnesses have also been recognized in American courts.
According to the decision, Zahir Jafar brutally killed Noor Muqaddam and showed no mercy. The court said his crime was so serious that he does not deserve any leniency. In addition to the death sentence for the murder, Zahir Jafar was also given life imprisonment for the rape charge. The court also upheld the punishments for the co-accused in the case. Muhammad Iftikhar and Muhammad Jan were found guilty of helping the main accused and their sentences have been maintained.
This case received widespread attention across Pakistan and abroad, especially because of the nature of the crime and the status of the people involved. The verdict is seen as a strong message in support of justice and women’s rights. Legal experts have called this decision a landmark ruling that confirms video evidence can stand on its own when properly verified. The court has stressed the importance of digital proof in serious criminal cases, setting a strong example for future trials.
