The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Academic Council has released the summer vacation schedule for affiliated health institutions, including medical and dental colleges across Punjab.
According to the decision, first-year MBBS students will go on vacation from July 28 to August 4. Second- and third-year MBBS students will get a break from June 5 to June 19. Fourth- and final-year MBBS students will enjoy summer holidays from June 5 to June 26. For BDS students, the second, third, and final years will have vacations from June 5 to June 26. First-year BDS students, whose academic session started late, will be on leave from July 1 to July 10.
Students of Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) will have their summer break from June 6 to June 26. The council also allowed colleges and institutions to run optional summer school programs and electives during the vacation period. These programs can include training in clinical sciences, research, public health, simulations, and skills labs.
In another important step, UHS has approved the creation of a faculty registration portal. All affiliated medical and dental colleges must register their teaching staff by July 1. Only registered faculty members will be eligible to work as examiners, paper setters, and reviewers. The council also approved academic calendars for MBBS, BDS, BS Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, and Pharmacy programs. Additionally, it finalized the structure for the appointment of undergraduate examiners for the 2024–25 academic year. These steps aim to ensure smooth academic operations and better planning during the upcoming academic session.
