The first Supermoon of 2025 will appear on October 7, giving sky watchers in Pakistan and worldwide a beautiful view.
A Supermoon happens when the moon reaches its closest point to Earth during its orbit, creating a stunning visual display in the night sky. On this date, the moon will be about 224,599 miles from Earth, making it look nearly 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter compared to a typical full moon.
Astronomers say this will be the closest Supermoon since November 2024, making it one of the most remarkable celestial events of the year. The October event is the first of three Supermoons scheduled for 2025. The next ones will take place on November 5 and December 5, with the November Supermoon expected to be the brightest of the year as the moon comes within 221,817 miles of Earth.
Another Supermoon will occur in January 2026, but it will not fall within the 2025 calendar year. Astronomers explain that three to four Supermoons usually occur each year, offering people worldwide the chance to enjoy the moon in its most striking form. The effect becomes especially memorable when the moon rises near the horizon, where it appears even more dramatic in size and color.
For many, the upcoming October Supermoon is more than just an astronomical event. It offers a rare opportunity to connect with nature, admire the beauty of the night sky, and enjoy a moment of wonder. Whether seen with the naked eye or through a telescope, this celestial sight promises to leave a lasting impression.
