Trophy unveiled for Pakistan–South Africa test series in Lahore

Pakistan and South Africa captains Shan Masood and Aiden Markram attended the trophy unveiling ceremony ahead of the first Test match at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

During the event, Aiden Markram visited the NCA museum, where Shan Masood briefed him about Pakistan cricket’s rich history and the trophies displayed in the gallery. The two captains expressed confidence and enthusiasm for the upcoming series, emphasizing mutual respect and sportsmanship. The first Test between Pakistan and South Africa will begin tomorrow at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and continue till October 16. Both teams have completed their final training sessions and are fully prepared for the series opener.

According to team sources, the Pakistan management is likely to include two pacers and two spinners in the playing XI for the first Test. Interim head coach Azhar Mahmood is said to be impressed with spinner Asif Afridi’s performance and may consider him for a debut. The probable Pakistan squad for the opening Test includes Abdullah Shafiq, Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Muhammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Sajid Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Noman Ali, and Khurram Shahzad.

Officials confirmed that both sides are looking to start the series strongly, as the Test marks an important part of the World Test Championship cycle. With Lahore’s crowd expected to turn out in large numbers, the series promises competitive cricket between two strong sides eager to showcase their talent and dominance in red-ball cricket.
