In recent news, The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has issued a new notification in which he stated that the bakeries of Rawalpindi are no longer allowed to sell their products in box packages.
The order came after there had been reports of multiple bakeries selling products in boxes that were not properly weighed. A 1 kilogram of sweets or any other product was weighed and almost 100 grams or more would be the weight of the box packaging.
DC Rawalpindi bans boxed packaging of Bakery Items
Upon this the Deputy Commissioner, Hassan Waqar Cheema has banned all bakeries in the vicinity from retailing their products in boxes. This unjust weight allocation caused this action as the notification has already been issued to the major bakeries and stores of Rawalpindi.
The sale of box packages is now strictly prohibited due to the unequal weight distribution of the items and the box. There have been numerous complaints that the bakeries sell their items in boxes but they follow the net weight rule instead of weighing the item being sold separately. DC Rawalpindi has put an end to this through this notification.
Sources suggest that there’s also a severe penalty for individuals who are not willing to do so. The penalization leads from severe fines to criminal charges. Moreover the DC has not just issued this notification but after a wide variety of complaints relating to the quality of foods, he has issued a strict monitoring of the food items by the Food Inspection authority and officials.
