On October 30, 2023, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the new and enhanced M3 Pro and M3 Max Macbooks. With the new M3 chips installed in the systems, they’ve been claimed to be more powerful and fast than their predecessor.
Apple’s Macbook has been one of its most prized possessions. Macbook has recently been upgraded as the CEO of Apple has announced the M3 Macbook Pro on October 30, 2023. The new gadget is expected to provide a much better performance than its predecessor the M2 Macbook Pro. This is because Apple has integrated its M3 Macbook with the latest M3 chips that are known to be much faster and reliable alongside higher graphical enhancement and speed output.
Even though it came at an unusual time because Apple had announced the M2 in January of 2023 and it’s very noteworthy that Apple had already announced another upgrade in the same year as the Macbook 2. They both come in two variants of 14 and 16 inches. Even though there hasn’t been much gap between their release as it’s only been a few months, the M3 Macbook Pro is still claimed to be much superior than the M2 Macbook Pro.

As for the specifications of the M2 and M3 Macbooks, the major change comes into the hardware as the CPU andGPU variants have changed for both. The CPU and GPU also have variants with regards to the standard Macbook, Macbook Pro or Max.
The M2 Pro has 2 CPU options. One is a 10-core option that has 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores while there is also a 12-core option that has 8 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores respectively.
When it comes to GPU, the M2 Pro has a 16 core GPU and the M2 Max has a 30-core. However, both of them do have special variants that can go to 19 core for Pro and 39 core GPU for Max.
M2 Pro has a 200 GB memory bandwidth while the M2 Max offers a 400 GB Bandwidth and both the chips have a 16-core Neural Engine for the purpose of Machine Learning.
The Apple’s M2 Pro has one encoded and one decode engine. It also has one ProRes code and decode engine.
The M3 Apple’s Macbook Pro is different when it comes to CPU as it offers an 8-core CPU and the performance and efficiency cores have been evenly distributed. The Pro version of M3 has a CPU of 11-core and the GPU of 14-core. The other variant offers a 12 core CPU with 6 performance and 6 efficiency cores and a 18 core GPU.
The M3 Max has two versions. The first version has 14-core CPU and 30-core GPU and the other has a 40-core GPU with a 16-core CPU. The Max version of the Macbook M3 has a 16-core Neural engine and double the encode, decode engines.
The memory bandwidth for the standard M3 is 100 GBs while the M3 Pro has a bandwidth of 150 GB and the M3 Max has a memory bandwidth of 400 GB.
Both of them offer a great variety of performance driven hardware and software but M3 Max is by far the best choice when it comes to performance.
