Sindh launches free pink scooty scheme for women

The Sindh government has announced that it will distribute pink electric scooters to women this week, in a bid to provide safe, dignified and cost-effective transport for female commuters across the province.

A key meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon reviewed the program details, with Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Sindh Mass Transit Authority MD Kanwal Bhutto, and other officials in attendance. Sharjeel Inam Memon said the government is taking a revolutionary step to make transportation safer, more affordable, and more convenient for women. He explained that the scheme will save both time and costs while ensuring a dignified and secure travel option for female students and working women who rely on public transport.

The Sindh Mass Transit Authority has started compiling a record of applicant women, and the scooters will be distributed on the basis of merit and financial need. Officials assured that the allotment process will be transparent and simple so that maximum beneficiaries can take advantage of the scheme. The minister emphasized that this initiative is designed for women engaged in education, employment, or other responsibilities. He urged female students and professionals to apply for the facility and use it to enhance their independence and participation in social and economic activities.

Sharjeel Inam Memon further added that the government wants to empower women in every field, and this project is a positive step in that direction. By promoting modern, eco-friendly, and safe travel solutions, the scheme also supports the province’s long-term vision of sustainable urban transport. Authorities expect the electric scooter program to reduce dependency on crowded public transport, ease travel stress for women, and encourage greater mobility across Sindh.
