META – The CEO of META, Mark Zuckerberg has apologized to all he parents at the US Senate’s social media hearing about the negative impacts of social media on children.
The hearing revolved around the negative impacts of social media upon children and the driving mechanisms that have been instilled in its operations.
The main driving factor was that Mark admitted to using Dopamine surge technology to ensure that the users are addicted to the platforms via likes and comments.
Prior to this, Mark admitted that whilst creating these platforms he knew about the dopamine mechanism deliberately being instilled and how it would “hook” children to it.
Furthermore, the comparative nature of the platforms like Facebook and Instagram indulged users, especially children into competitive and comparative rationale with the world.
This competition of likes and comments and doomscrolling has ruined the lives of many children as the urge to scrol “one more post” never goes away.
The Senators present initially played a video in which numerous young kids were telling their story of how they got bullied and extorted for money.
The families at the hearing also held pictures of their children who took their lives due to online predators, and who have been harassed and bullied over Facebook and Instagram.
The hearing was broadcasted live upon which Senator Josh Hawley asked Mark if he wants to apologize to the parents.
Mark Zuckerbeg stood upon and turned to the parents saying, “I’m sorry for everything you have all been through. No one should go through the things that your families have suffered and this is why we invest so much and we are going to continue doing industry-wide efforts to make sure no one has to go through the things your families have had to suffer”.
After Mark’s apology, Hawley again aggressively turned to Mark and said, “your product is killing people”.
