Police revealed as most Corrupt Sector in Pakistan by Amnesty International Report

Amnesty International Pakistan unveiled their National Corruption Impact Assessment Report on Friday which had some disappointing and shocking discoveries. Police force was ranked as the most corrupt sector in Pakistan.

The findings of the report state that Police is the most corrupt sector in Pakistan with KPK and Sindh Police leading the corruption report. 

Police department showed a significant rise in the corruption levels since last year. There was an approximate increase of 5% in corruption and the Judiciary stood at 3rd most corrupt sector in Pakistan.

Amnesty International conducted a survey that had 2,023 participants and the results were shocking. The results depicted that according to the participants, the Police is the most corrupt sector in Pakistan responsible for 30% corruption. The Tendering and contracting department took 2nd place with a 16% corruption rate and the Judiciary followed in third place with a corruption level of 13%.

The report showed significant corruption levels where Sindh police was found to be the most corrupt force with a corruption rate of 37%.

There was a marginal decrease in corruption in the Education level, the corruption level rose by 2% in the health sector.

Surprisingly, 67% of participants stated that agencies like NAB and the FIA are only tools for political gains and serve no proper function to dismantle the increasing and alarming corruption levels in Pakistan.

Relating to the causes of corruption, there were causes outlined by the participants. Many believe that this was due to the absence of merit in institutions. Several participants stated that it was due to the transparency of assets of political figures while some argued that this alarming rise has led to a decrease in the safety of the environment in Pakistan.
