Chicken meat prices dropped by Rs130 per kilogram in a single day in Islamabad on Monday.
The price of chicken meat in the federal capital has declined from Rs880 to Rs760 per kilogram, while live chicken prices have dropped from Rs450 to Rs375 per kilogram. However, price trends differ significantly across cities due to supply chain variations.
In Lahore, the wholesale price of live broiler chicken is Rs397 per kilogram, with a retail rate of Rs411 per kilogram. The government has set chicken meat at Rs595 per kilogram, but market prices have soared to Rs700 per kilogram. Meanwhile, eggs remain steady at Rs329 per dozen.
In Multan, the wholesale price for live broiler chicken is Rs394 per kilogram, with the retail rate at Rs408 per kilogram. Broiler meat is priced at Rs590 per kilogram, and eggs are selling at Rs317 per dozen.
Rawalpindi has witnessed a sharp increase in live broiler chicken prices, rising from Rs285 to Rs530 per kilogram within a week. Broiler meat prices have also surged past Rs900 per kilogram, marking an unprecedented increase of up to Rs450 per kilogram in just one week.
In Mirpur Khas, the price of boneless broiler chicken meat has exceeded Rs1,000 per kilogram, reflecting significant cost spikes in the region.
These price variations highlight inconsistent supply dynamics and rising costs nationwide, further burdening consumers’ affordability.
