Car catches fire while refueling LPG in Karachi, six wounded

A dangerous incident unfolded in Karachi when a car suddenly caught fire during LPG refilling, leaving six people injured and prompting urgent calls for stricter safety enforcement.

A tragic fire and explosion at an LPG cylinder filling shop in Hyderabad’s Preetabad area has claimed 16 lives. The blast occurred at a shop located on the ground floor of Zacha Bacha Hospital area along Mir Nabi Bux Town Road in UC-8 of Neerunkot town. Moreover, police reported that two more victims succumbed to their injuries at Karachi’s Civil Hospital, raising the death toll to 16. The deceased were identified as 15-year-old Umair and 14-year-old Abbas.

Additionally, six people, including one man, two women, and three children, sustained burn injuries when the fire erupted inside a car during the LPG refilling process. The injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital Burns Ward for treatment. They include 32-year-old Ali Abbas, 30-year-old Ramsha, and 50-year-old Nighat, along with children 6-year-old Anabia, 9-year-old Anaya, and 6-year-old Jannat.

Furthermore, authorities confirmed that all victims inside the car were present at the scene when the fire broke out during cylinder refilling. Emergency teams responded promptly to transport the injured to the hospital and control the fire. The incident has prompted police to investigate safety lapses and adherence to regulations at LPG refilling shops. Residents and shop owners have been urged to follow strict safety protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Meanwhile, authorities are assessing the causes of the blast and taking measures to ensure safety at other cylinder refilling stations across the city.
