What is a Golden passport?

A golden passport is an exceptional way to get citizenship of a country. In Turkey, if an individual wishes to get a golden passport, he or she  needs to invest in the country and accept some conditions laid foht by the country to acquire citizenship.

The Turkish golden passport was officially launched in 2016 and 2017. Initially, a foreigner needed to  make an investment of $1 million and have a capital of 2$ to acquire citizenship. However, that bracket was too high and a lot of the people weren’t able to pay that much. Later on Turkey reduced it down to an investment of $250,000 and reduced the capital as well. 

Due to the reduction in cost, Turkish golden passports skyrocketed as a substantial number of individuals from across the globe applied for it. This in turn benefited the country as they made up more than $1 billion in revenue from investment from foreigners.

Requirements for Turkish Golden Passport in Pakistan 2023

For a Pakistani to acquire citizenship via Turkish golden passport, the individual needs to meet a certain eligibility criteria and have a set of documents. Below are the main requirements to acquire Turkish Golden visa in Pakistan 2023

1. A valid CNIC card issued by NADRA.

2. A police Verification Certificate or Character Certificate from your local police station attested by the Foreign Embassy.

3. A medical examination from an authentic medical practitioner.

4. A Covid vaccine certificate alongside a Polio certificate.

5. Original passport with expiry of more than 6 months.

6. An investment in Real estate worth $400,000 and some additional expenditure in Turkey.

As of now the Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs of Turkey released the updated data of last year. According to them, almost 26,000 properties have been bought by foreign nationals as an investment for a Turkish golden passport. Most of them are Russians and Iranians. Ukraine follows after them alongside Palestine and Azerbaijan.
