JUI Leader Hafiz Abdul Salam Arif gunned down in Charsadda

In a targeted killing incident, the unidentified assailants brutally shot and killed Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader and renowned religious scholar Maulana Hafiz Abdul Salam Arif in Mandani Tehsil of Charsadda, according to the CTD sources.

According to police, the incident occurred suddenly, and the scholar died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds. Officials immediately shifted his body to Civil Hospital Jamalabad for a post-mortem examination. The police confirmed that an investigation has started, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the attackers. They added that teams are collecting evidence from the crime scene and reviewing possible leads to identify those involved.

Maulana Abdul Salam was a respected religious figure and served as the head of Madrassa Abu Bakar Siddique in Angar Bari Band, Tehsil Tangi, in Charsadda. He was also a member of JUI’s Provincial Shura. His sudden death has created a wave of shock and sorrow in the community, especially among religious circles and his students.

Moreover, police officials stated they are treating the attack as a targeted killing. They also assured that law-enforcement agencies are working actively to bring the culprits to justice. Meanwhile, locals have called for strong measures to ensure the safety of religious leaders and prevent such incidents in the future.
