Pakistan prolongs airspace restrictions for Indian flights

The Pakistan Airports Authority has extended airspace restrictions, prohibiting Indian-registered aircraft from entering Pakistani airspace.

This restriction covers all aircraft operated by Indian airlines, whether for military or civilian use. The ban applies to planes directly owned by India or leased by Indian companies. This means Indian commercial flights and military jets are not allowed to pass through Pakistani airspace.

The extended airspace restriction will take effect from July 18 and will remain in place until August 24. During this time, Indian aircraft will need to take longer alternative routes, which could result in higher fuel costs and longer flight times. Officials have not publicly shared the reason behind this extension, but sources suggest it may be linked to ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries. This is not the first time such bans have been imposed, as both countries have used airspace closures as a response to political or security developments in the past.

The ban may affect international flight schedules and could also impact passengers traveling between India and the West, as flights may be rerouted through longer paths to avoid Pakistani airspace. The authority has clearly stated that the decision will be strictly enforced, and no exceptions will be granted to any Indian aircraft, including those on lease. Pakistani air traffic controllers have been instructed to ensure full compliance with the ban. Travelers and airlines are advised to stay updated with flight schedules, as further changes may occur depending on the situation in the coming weeks.
