The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall in parts of Sindh from May 2 to May 3, as a western weather system moves across the country.Starting tomorrow, strong winds are also expected to hit Karachi.
According to the PMD advisory, southern regions including Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan will experience temperatures 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than normal from April 26 to May 1. In the northern areas like Islamabad, central and upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, the temperature will also remain 4 to 6 degrees above average until April 30.However, some relief is expected from May 1 when a new weather system will enter the country. This system will bring rain, thunderstorms, and even hail to parts of Kashmir, Islamabad, Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
As for Sindh, PMD expects that this weather system will cause rainfall between May 2 and May 3, helping to reduce the high temperatures for a short time.Earlier, PMD had already warned that this ongoing heatwave would make the weather unusually hot across the southern half of Pakistan. The public is advised to take precautions, especially during daytime hours, to avoid heat-related illnesses.
Authorities have been asked to stay alert and prepare for the possibility of rain and thunderstorms in the northern parts of the country. Farmers and outdoor workers are also advised to monitor weather updates regularly during this period. With changing weather patterns and back-to-back heatwaves, experts continue to stress the importance of early warnings and public awareness.
