Police in Lahore and other regions continue crackdown on drivers without licenses, and it prompted huge increase in applications. Amid the influx, Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) rolled out new policy for test retakes.
Driving license candidates who fail road test can now retake it after 2 weeks, while earlier the same waiting time was around 42-days.
CTO Amara Athar explained that this change aligns with an amendment to the Punjab Motor Vehicle Rules 1969, aimed at saving time and making the licensing process more efficient. Previously, this 15-day retake opportunity was only available for sign tests.
Athar also noted that all test videos, including those for both road and sign tests, are recorded and archived to ensure transparency and fairness in the testing process.
These updates are anticipated to reduce the long delays that many candidates faced, thereby streamlining the path to obtaining a driving license.
