London – The BBC has finally let out the list of 100 most inspiring and influential women of the year 2023. Two women from Pakistan, Afroze-Numa also known as the Shepherdess and Neha Mankani have been named in the World’s 100 most influential and inspiring women’s list.
Afroze-Numa (Shepherdess)
Afroze Numa also known as the Shepherdess is one of the last remaining Wakhi Shepherdess who has been taking care of goats, yak, and sheep for the last 30 years now.
She learnt trade from her grandmother and mother and she’s part of a centuries old tradition to take cattle uphill up to 4,800 meters above sea level. They prepare dairy products there for trade which then helps her earn money.

The income produced by the barter trade has brought prosperity, tranquility, and peace to the village. They’ve also been able to provide education to their children by the earnings they’ve made by barter trade. Afroze states that she was one of the first women to own a pair of shoes.
Neha Makani (Midwife)
Neha Mankani had travelled last year to offer service to women suffering from the floods. She has devoted her life to helping ‘expecting’ women and early mothers for their various needs. She’s helped more than 15,000 women in their ‘expecting’ time of 9 months and has provided them with the necessary care and items they need.
She stated that her campaign Mama Baby Fund has now raised enough that she can now launch a boat ambulance to help the women reach hospitals in time to get the proper care and treatment at the end of their ‘expecting’ period.
