GWADAR – The much awaited Gwadar International Airport is expected to start operations by 2025 according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
As Gwadar is suspected to be the hub of the economic corridor in Asia in the next few years, the need for an International Airport has drastically increased.
The Civil Aviation Authority has released a notification in which they stated that the New Gwadar International Airport is expected to start operations by 2025, next year.
Moreover, a relief for Arabian pilots, as the Airport has been granted the Global Aerodrome Category-C Certification, which means that the pilots can now use it for emergency landings in case of crash or diverse weather conditions.
Before this certification, pilots had to land at the Karachi Internal Airports in case of emergencies.
Just last month, an Indian plane had to make an emergency landing at the Karachi International Airport after a passenger on board got sick.
Officials state that the New Gwadar International Airport will be equipped with state of the artlanding equipment and gear.
The CAA officials state that one of the most advanced landing systems has been installed at the Airport making it relatively easy for bigger planes like the Boeing 737 to land effortlessly and with ease.
In December, The CAA has already issued a catalogue of flight schedule for the Gwadar International Airport from December, 2023 to March, 2024.
The schedule states that flight operations will only occur on 3 days: Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Additional Flights will have to inform the Airport 24 hours prior to conducting operations.
