The latest announcement by National Highways Motorway Police has sparked unrest among citizens. The NHMP announced an imposition of a fine on No-fault insurance coverage certificate for drivers.
However, citizens have been complaining as the majority of population has no idea what a no-fault insurance certificate is.
The fine of Rs 1,000 will be effective from January 1, 2024 but citizens are baffled as the bulk of population has no idea what it is, and how to obtain it.
The NHMP also did not explain the no-fault insurance certificate nor how to obtain it which has sparked an outrage amongst drivers.
Reacting to the NMMP’s announcement, citizens from across the country stated that NHMP should first educate the population rather than imposing a head-on fine of which the vas majority of population has no idea about.
Moreover, at the start of December, NHMP also announced the revised fines for traffic offences such as over-speeding and driving a motorcycle without a helmet.
There was a massive increase in fines as the fine of using HIDs was set at Rs 2,000 instead of the previous Rs 300. Moreover, motorists doing stunts would be liable for a fine of Rs 5,000 rather than s 200.
Moreover, driving without a helmet will now cost the driver Rs 1,000 instead of the previous Rs 200.
