Step by step guide for succession certificate in Pakistan 2023
If you’re looking for property ownership of a deceased parent or guardian, you’ll need a succession certificate. The certificate varies from region to region. The regions include Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan. However, there are minor changes to such regions and the process remains the same. There are 5 basic steps to follow to ensure you don’t face any obstacles in obtaining this legal document.
- Step 1 : The first step is to initiate your application. To get a succession certificate, the candidate or applicant needs to provide proof of death for the inheritance of an individual. The individual needs to provide his or her CNIC alongside a death certificate of the deceased and the deceased’s CNIC.
- Step 2 : In step 2, the candidate needs to provide the legal documentation of the heirs and the property of the deceased. The property will include both movable and immovable property.
- Step 3 : For the next step, all the legal heirs of the deceased mentioned will have to visit NADRA’s centre for their biometric and consent.
- Step 4 : After all legal heirs have been verified and they’ve consented to your next of kin ownership of the deceased’s property, NADRA will issue an advertisement in the newspaper of your inheritance for any objections.
- Step 5 : The time for objection would be 14 days. If there is no objection for 14 days, NADRA will then print the document and deliver it to the candidate.
Note: A moveable property is any asset that can be moved without having to change its shape or size such as the bank account, utensils, books, and vehicles etc. Immovable property is property that can’t be moved such as land, house, plot, and flat etc.
